Propane based Solvent Extraction:
Ely Energy designs and builds batch type, closed loop propane based solevent extraction systems. Propane is used as an alternative to hexane. The design recieves fresh oil bearing vegetable matter (OBVM) through an opening at the top. The weight of the OBVM is then measured by load cells the meal is then dispersed within an extractor by a mechanical device and is processed. After multiple wash cycles, the propane is removed and recovered via an LPG pump with LPG vapor recovered via a compressor. A complete extraction cycle requires approximately 3 hours.
Edible Oil Refining:
Ely Energy holds the sole rights to be patented Dry Refining Process (DRP), US Patent No. 6,111,120). The DRP quantitatively removes free fatty acids by filtration in a substatially water free environment. Phosphatides and other minor constituents are not removed by the DRP. The neutralized and bleached oil is then deodorized in a new generation thin film deodorizer (TFD). The process allows using an inert gas as a stripping medium thus avoiding the need of a seal pit and costly treatment of the seal pit effluent. These technologies allow for an effluent free, environmentally friendly refining process with reduced capital and operating costs.
